Welcome to HordaforH-pro® is manufactured from fresh by-products from salmon harvested for human consumption. Immediately after the filleting of the salmon the by-products are transported to a tank where ensiling is initiated with formic acid. Mature ensilage has a constant pH ranging between 3.0 and 4.0. In order to avoid rancidness antioxidant is added.Formic acid and antioxidant prevent rancidness and protein depletion in the raw product, thus turning it into a microbiologically stable product. The ensilage is then transported by HORDAFOR’s own trucks or ships for refinement at the production plant near Bergen, Norway.At the plant the ensilage is heated to 95 ºC for 10 minutes before the oil is separated out. The oil fraction is then refined to H-oil® which is mainly used for industrial purposes.The protein fraction is evaporated at 80 - 85 ºC, resulting in the protein concentrates H-Light and H-pro® with a protein content of 17 and 30 % respectively. Heat treatment stabilises the end product and increases the protein availability. All manufacturing takes place at our manufacturing facilities in Norway.
