ProductionH-pro® is made of fresh by-products from farmed salmon slaughtered for human consumption. Immediate after filleting the by-products are mixed with formic acid starting the ensiling process. Mature ensilage has got a stable pH-value between 3.5 and 4.0. Formic acid and antioxidant prevent oxidation and protein degradation of the raw material and hence transform it into a microbiologically stable product. The ensilage is transported with HORDAFOR's own vessels/cars to the factory for further refining.
At the factory the ensilage is heated to 95°C for ten minutes, whereby the oil is separated from the protein part. By evaporation at 80-85°C, the protein concentrate becomes H-pro® with 30% protein and 42% dry matter. The heat-treatment stabilizes the end product and enhances the bioavailability of the proteins. Today, all production takes place on our factory in Norway
In order to ensure high quality of the end product as well as employee safety on our factory in Norway , HORDAFOR has its own laboratory and procedures for production health, safety and work environment.
After production, H-pro® are transported in HORDAFOR’s own tankers to silo tanks in Hirtshals , Denmark. From here, the products are distributed by road tanker to customers in Denmark and abroad.
